During most types of Laparoscopic Surgery, Dissectors are used to grab, hold and pull peritoneal tissue off of organs as well as being used for blunt dissection between tissue planes. Dissectors are also used as haemostatic devices. If a "bleeder" is encountered, the delicate tips of the dissector can isolate and grab the vessel and monopolar electrocautery can be applied directly to the site through the dissector. If the vessel is larger, the instrument can prevent additional bleeding while a clip or suture ligature is applied.
